Fixes for QuickBooks Won’t Print Checks

Here are some effective fixes that will facilitate QuickBooks to print checks.

1.   Check whether your printer can print outside QuickBooks. 

Start by checking if your printer can print anything apart QuickBooks checks.

·         Hit the ‘Start’ button and find the Notepad application.

·         Enter any text.

·         Select ‘File’ followed by ‘Print.’

·         Choose the appropriate printer and hit ‘Print.’

·         If no printout comes out, switch off your printer.

·         After that, restart your computer.

·         Turn on the printer again. Then load the paper.

·         Now try printing.

2.   Rename the qbprint.qbp file.

·         Exit QuickBooks.

·         Now find the qbprint.qbp file and change its name. 

·         The file’s location will change according to the Windows version you use and the version year of QuickBooks.

·         For Windows Vista 7 and 8, the location will be as follows:

·         C: \ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks YYYY. Here, ‘YYYY’ indicates the year of your QuickBooks file. 

·         For Windows XP, here is the location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks YYYY.

·         For Windows server 2012 and server 2008, the location will be C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\YYYY QuickBooks \TSPrinterSettings and C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks YEAR and 

·         Launch QuickBooks. 

·         Select ‘File’ followed by ‘Printer Setup.’

·         Tap ‘Pay check’ followed by ‘OK.’

3.   Use the Print and Repair tool from QuickBooks. 

Another thing to do when you find that QuickBooks won’t print checks is to use the Print and Repair tool.

·         Find the problematic qbprint.qbp file. 

·         Rename this file.

·         If you are a Windows 10, 8.1 or 7 user, go to ‘Program Data’ and tap ‘Intuit.’

·         Now search for your QuickBooks version and tap it.

·         If you are unable to find the file, unhide the hidden folders and files.

·         Click ‘qbpprint.qbp’ to modify the file name.

·         Launch QuickBooks and your company file.

·         After following the procedure above, open the pdf file’s transaction. 

·         Find out if it's working or not. 

4.  Print checks in a private window

The QuickBooks Online check printing problem can be caused by lots of damaged cache files. You may print your checks in a private window and see if you face the issue.

·         Chrome users can hit Ctrl + Shift + N on their keyboard to open the incognito mode.

·         If you are a Mozilla Firefox user, hit Ctrl + Shift + P.

·         Apple Safari users can press Command + Shift + N.
